Wootton Basset Wiltshire house and flat architect development

Planning Application submitted for house and flat scheme in Wootton Bassett

Wootton Bassett Wiltshire Planning permission Esmond Murray Architects

The original outline planning application had been submitted by our client’s planning consultant. The site for this proposed new housing development is a plateau at the south east of the town. The eastern edge of the site is defined by a steep grassy slope which overlooks the business park down below. The western edge of the site is Vowley View which marks the present limit of the town’s housing.

The scheme comprises 60 houses in a variety of sizes and 24 flats arranged along a meandering shared surface access road interrupted by 3 parking courts that also provide further traffic calming.

Planning consent achieved in Henrietta Park, Bath

Esmond Murray Architects delighted to have achieved detailed planning consent this month to extend this popular hotel in the centre of Bath. Our scheme provides eight double, en-suite bedrooms, a 140 square metre Health Suite and additional parking.

We had to work closely with the local authority’s planners and listed building officers to achieve approval as the building is locally listed.

The hotel was originally two large Victorian villas built in the late 19th Century adjacent Henrietta Park in a domestic style version of the French Renaissance Style that had become so popular.

The hotel was formerly called ‘Villa Magdala’ and has built up an excellent reputation for its boutique-style accommodation. However, it has recently been sold to the ‘Roseate Hotel & Resort Group’ and is now called the ‘Villa at Henrietta Park’. The hotel will complement their hotels in London, Reading and Bombay.

Work commenced on church conversion in Yate

Work has now commenced on the conversion of Grace Church in Yate, reputably the birthplace of JK Rowling. Despite the sensitive nature of the existing building, Esmond Murray Architects were able to gain planning consent for the conversion of the existing clinic into 9 residential apartments and a 200 seat hall extension to the site. We’re looking forward to seeing the project through to the next phase.

Bath Outperformed Wider UK Prime Country Markets in 2016

The latest Bath Market Insight Report from Knight Frank has revealed that last year saw the Bath prime property market starting to ease, after significant growth in 2015.  Property prices in Bath increased by 3.5% in 2016, compared with 4.5% the previous year. However, despite slower growth, Bath still outperformed the wider UK prime country markets, which saw an average fall of 0.4% in 2016.
